Door County: County HH at Hwy 57 will be closed to through traffic from Tuesday, 27 May to Thursday, 29 May for placement of the concrete pavement for the southbound lanes. The contractor plans to pave the entire southbound lanes of Hwy 57 first. Therefore, additional three-day road closures will occur at the Co. Hwy D, C, and Y intersections.

Sturgeon Bay City: If the city agrees to give $140,000 of annually collected room taxes to the Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center (SBVC), the members and directors agreed to join the countywide Tourism Zone Commission. The city would then come under the marketing efforts of the Door County Visitors Bureau (DCVB). Tourists visiting Door County in 2007 spent more than $404 million, according to the annual report from the WI Dept. of Tourism. This was a decrease of $16 million in spending or 3.89% from 2006. Door County is ranked 7th in the state in spending behind Milwaukee, Dane, Sauk, Waukesha, Brown, and Walworth counties. In WI, travelers spent an estimated $12.8 billion in 2007, a 0.39% decrease from 2006. The majority of that spending--$4.88 billion—was between June and August. Sturgeon Bay City: Third Ave. construction update:

·       All storm sewers have been installed, and rough grading and the installation of some road base began Friday.
·       Paving is scheduled to begin 28 May and if the weather remains good, the concrerte will be installed for the curbs and gutters for the length of 3rd Ave, except for intersection connections. Those will be completed later.

·       Sidewalk installation is still scheduled to begin the 1st week of June.

There are plans to open portions of 3rd Ave. to traffic after 15 June, but only if it doesn't interfere with construction. (Source: Door County Advocate)

Egg Harbor: Peninsula Shores Property Owners Association president Steve Schaefer vows to challenge further development of the design for a new Egg Harbor municipal marina before a WI DNR board meeting in Milwaukee on 27-28 May at the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District offices. In question is the length of the wall. Carrie Webb of the DNR said the lakebed is public property, not the adjoining property owners, once the water depth exceeds five feet. The use of the shallower waters along the shoreline is reserved for the adjacent property owner by riparian rights. (Source: Door County Advocate
