Sturgeon Bay Town: The Town Board will turn to its attorney to determine its
power to vacate a town road before deciding whether a property owner can
remove trees from a right-of-way area on Hayes Road. A final determination
on vacating the road must be made in Door Co. Circuit Court. The Town Board
is also considering the next steps in the possible acquisition of a 4 acre
wetland parcel next to Portage Park. The Town is seeking a grant to purchase
of the parcel which has about 424' of frontage. The Board learned that a
barn in the Town that was remodeled and used for social gatherings is for
sale. In the past, the Town Board questioned whether the building's use was
permitted in that area of the Town. The Town has county zoning. The owner's
of The Dance Barn at 2136 Taube Road, used the family's adjoining residence
as a B&B facility. A resident recommended the new owners be notified of Town
zoning requirements to head off future problems with its operation. The
Board also questioned whether REALTORS® are required to notify buyers about
past zoning issues. It was suggested real estate agents be notified about
past problems with the facility. (Source: Door County Advocate)
