The Door Co. League of Women Voters will host a "Candidate Forum" for the 09
September primary on Tuesday, 26 August at 6:30 PM in the Sturgeon Bay City
Hall.

Door Co. Environmental Council summer program will feature Peter Annin on
Wednesday, 20 August at 7 PM in the Baileys Harbor Town Hall. The program is
"Great Lakes Water Diversions: The Threat Continues". HYPERLINK

Door Co. Tourism Zone Commission: will meet on Thursday, 21 Aug at 9 AM in
the Baileys Harbor Town Hall.

Egg Harbor Village: The Village has decided to proceed with its $7.9 million
marina renovation and expansion project. The construction is expected to
begin in late October with placement of the inner docks to come in the fall
of 2009. The marina is expected to be fully operational in 2010. The Village
received a $1.185 million grant from the WI Waterways Commission in July.

Jacksonport Town: The Parks Committee discussed the possibility of
purchasing the Rip Tide property in Lakeside Park. The Town Board will meet
on Thursday, 21 August at 7 PM in the Town Hall/Fire Station to discuss
this.

Jacksonport Town: The Town Board will meet on Tuesday, 26 August at 7 PM in
the Town Hall/Fire Station. Agenda items:
* Beach Storm Water Management, Lakeside Beach
* Legislative Day report
* Clark Lake Advancement Assoc. – request for a no-motor ordinance for
Logan Creek and the north end of Clark Lake
* Aerial photography of the Town
* Set budget hearing date

Sister Bay Village: Please note: a number of the forthcoming meetings have
been rescheduled. Go to the Village website for changes in meeting dates.The
Village will be implementing a TIF and will be the first in the Gibraltar

Sturgeon Bay City: The City Council will meet Tuesday, 19 August at 8 PM in
Council Chambers. Agenda items:
* Sewer for Cove Road. A citizens group has petitioned the City for
sewer service.
* Noise exemption for Fairgrounds (John Miles Park). 1st reading of an
ordinance to exempt the park from the noise ordinance.
* City room tax: The Finance Committee is recommending raising the
city room tax to 5.5% which would be consistent with the rest of the county.
The City will continue to be excluded from the county wide marketing effort.

* Visitor Center: The Finance Committee is recommending the City
continue to keep 30% of the room tax revenue up to $100,000. Above that and
the proceeds would go to the Sturgeon Bay Visitors Center (SBVC) in addition
to their 70% of the room tax revenue.
* Conduct feasibility study along with chemical spraying 50' perimeter
for Little Lake (Old business)
* Study & recommendation re: establish City Policy for charging a
minimum fee for hook-up to City sewer system (Old business)
* Study & recommendation re: Creatioin of Chapter 24 – Design Review
Code (Old business)
* Execute agreement with Traffic Analysis & Design, Inc. for the
traffic impact analysis for the proposed Wal-Mart Supercenter after payment
is received from Wal-Mart (Old business)

Sturgeon Bay City: The City Utility Commission purchased the property at
3417 Lily Bay Road at the option price of $45,000. The SBU is planning on
building a substation on this property and the City Plan Commission voted
4-1 in favor of the annexation with a stipulation that the SBU returns to
the Plan Commission with a detailed landscaping plan for screening and
noise.

Sturgeon Bay City: The City Plan Commission in a 3-2 vote, voted against a
plan to relocate WireTech Mfg. and create a new tax district which would
have paid for the project. The City would have paid WireTech $1 million for
its present factory on North 6th Ave. The City then would have razed the
building and used the site for a residential housing development. WireTech
would have received 6 acres in the industrial park to build a $3 million
plant. The project would have been financed through the creation of the
City's third tax increment finance (TIF) district.
