Voter Registration: Special registration deputies (SRD) cannot regtister
voters beyond Wednesday, 20 August for the 09 September partisan primary
election. Registration deadline for the 04 November fall election is
Wednesday, 15 October at 5 PM. After the deadline dates, voters may only
register in the municipal clerk's office OR AT THE POLLS on Election Day.
Absentee Ballots: The deadline for making application to vote absentee by
mail is Thursday, 04 September at 5 PM. The deadline for voting by absentee
ballot in the Clerk's Office is 5 PM, Monday, 08 September 2008. You can
also go the clerk's office of your municipality complete a written
application and vote by absentee ballot.
Candidate Forum: The League of Women Voters will hold a forum for the
candidates for the 1st Assembly District on Tuesday, 26 August from 6:30 –
8:30 PM in the Sturgeon Bay City Hall.
Rural Development Loans: Low interest loans are available to every low
income rural residents who own and occupy a dwelling in need of repair or

Door County
Egg Harbor Village: The Village Board adopted a 20 year Comprehensive Plan
for land use at their recent board meeting. The board also voted to give the
Utility Committee another 3 months to develop criteria for off-season
sewerage charges, or do away with them. Property owners are charged based on
the number of Residential Equivalency Units (REUs) onsite. A reduced fee is
available during the winter months when the property is not occupied. Even
places with water turned off and electric service disconnected during the
winter are charged $70.83/REU/quarter and $125/quarter in warmer months. The
Village Board voted to end the seasonal rate difference if the committee
hasn't developed a policy within the next 90 days.
Egg Harbor Village: The Plan Commission will meet on Tuesday, 26 August at 7
PM in the Bertschinger Community Center. Agenda items:
* Review and approve a certified survey map creating two lots. Land is
currently described as Lots 1, 2, 3, 4 and the southerly 15 feet of Lot 5.
All of Block 11 of the Point Beach Plat, S26, T30N, R26E, Village of Egg
Harbor (7752 East Shore Drive).
* Discussion re: minimum dwelling size in the MU zoning district.
* Discussion re: establishment of architectural standards
* Discussion and action re: disposition of platted rights of way
parallel to STH 42.
Forestville Town: The Town Plan Commission will review a draft of the first
6 chapters of the Door Co. Smart Growth Plan before meeting in September
with the Door Co. Core Planning Cmte. The Town Plan Commission will meet at
7 PM Monday at the Town Hall and a second time at 7 PM on 08 September at
the Town Hall. The unofficial census shows the Town population at 1,163 (an
increase of 8 from last year).
Jacksonport Town: The Town Board will meet at 7 PM Tuesday, 26 August at the
Town Hall.
Liberty Grove Town: the Plan Commission will meet at 7 PM on Monday, 25
August at the Town Hall. Agenda items:

o On bedroom multiple occupancy development unit, David Weborg at
12662 Hwy 42
o Establish multiple occupancy development at 2410 Log Cabin Lane,
Leslie & Tina Gan (tabled on 07 July)
Sevastopol School: The Annual Meeting will be held on Tuesday, 26 August at
6:30 PM in the Multi-Purpose Room.
Sturgeon Bay City: Hudson Towers is seeking a conditional use permit to
build a cell tower off Egg Harbor Road behind the vacant Taco Bell building.
The tower would require a variance from the Zoning Board of Appeals for the
required setbacks. The City's Community Development Director has recommended
approving the tower subject to moving the northernmost corner farther from
the adjacent homes. Cellcom is constructing a new building at the corner of
E. Maple St. and Neenah Ave. They will raze the present building. The
project has been approved by the Waterfront Design Review Board. Shipyard
Properties was given approval to add three parcels to the waterfront tax
increment district (TID).Sturgeon Bay Marinas was granted a conditional use
permit for two eight-unit apartment buildings at 306 Nautical Drive. The
City will receive park and recreation fees of $4,800 for the 16 new
dwellings, with utilities paid by the developer. The property value will
likely be more than $1 million.

Kewaunee County
Kewaunee County: The Board of Adjustments will hold a Public Hearing on
Wednesday, 03 September at 7 PM in the Kewaunee Co. Administration Center.
Agenda item:
* Proposal to vary the terms of the County Shoreland Ordinance as follows:
to allow Mr. William Bosse to construct a 28' x 48' accessory building
without a principle structure on his lot.
Kewaunee School: The Annual Meeting and budget hearing will be Monday, 25
August at 7:30 PM in the board room at Hillcrest School.
Luxemburg School: The Annual Meeting will be held on Monday, 25 August at 7
PM in the Senior High auditorium. Agenda items:
* Purchase of two parcels of land; a 15 acre parcel at a price of
$150,000 and the Peter Arendt property of approx. 10.797 acres at a price of
$205,143.
Luxemburg Town: The Annual Meeting will be held on Wednesday, 27 August at
7:30 PM in the Luxemburg Town Hall.
Luxemburg Village: A Public Hearing will be held on Wednesday, 27 August at
7 PM in the Village Hall to consider the proposed Amendments No. 3 for Tax
Increment Finance District No 1 Project Plan and boundary.
Southern Door School: The school board will meet on Monday, 25 August at 7
PM.
